During our research process, we focused largely on Middle Eastern and East African countries like Kenya and Uganda that have repeatedly been the subjects of extensive research on FC by westerners. Reading passages, chapters from one researched journal to another; from one FGM book to another, what we found were not only problematic but profoundly astonishing. Some of what researchers/experts on the "FGM" were telling us about unsafe practices of Female Circumcision in Kenya or Uganda for example, were of course quite disturbing and totally out of line with reasoning that even most members of my class including the professor who were anti-FC found hard to believe.
